Creative Photography: My Perspective
My favorite type of photography to capture and to look at is creative photography. There are several loose ways you could define this, but I am particularly drawn to any photography that showcases creativity in a beautiful and unique way. I will show you some examples below so you can better understand what I mean. In this post I will teach you some basics on capturing creative shots, as well as show you some examples of Instagram accounts I draw inspiration from. 1. Object shots
This is probably my most used type of creative photography because it appeals to me the most. Basically how I define this is any tangible object that you use to create a beautiful image. I have included some examples below of object shots I have taken.

The object here is paint. Paint can make really gorgeous shots come to life. Here I simply just painted my face, but that increases the creative aspect by so much more as opposed to this shot without any paint used.

In this shot, I threw up flower petals, and this really adds beauty, as every flower petal is different, and gracefully falling. If it was an image of just flower petals, it would not be as unique. Combining the concept of motion with the petals adds the creative flair.

This shot took me the longest to make, because I actually painted, cut out, and glued these tiny gold flakes all over my eyes. The result is pretty eye-catching, similar to the paint photo.

In this shot I used string lights that are becoming very popular in photography now. They create really gorgeous shots and are fun to toy around with.

Another recent shot of my first shoot with the string lights.
2. Photoshop
I really like the use of photoshop because it allows so many possibilities for creative and breathtaking shots. I personally use this form of photography the most because the result is always amazing. I use the app Photoshop Mix, and it makes it super easy to create awesome pictures, as some that I used Photoshop Mix for are shown below.

This is one of my favorite shots I've ever taken because everything about it is just so beautiful. I simply took a picture of me holding a book, then I googled an image of a forest and used the cutout tool to crop it to fit the book. The final photo appears to have a forest melting out of a book, and that perfectly showcases a creative shot in my opinion.

To create this image, I took a picture of me holding a book. I took 8 other pictures of books at different angles, making sure my hand didn't cover the books. I used the cutout tool to add each book and scattered them around the image.

Here is another example of the melting book image.

This image includes the string lights, but I also photoshopped in a glare from online so that it could add some more creativity to the shot. The soft glare helps frame the photo and emphasize the string lights.
3. Editing
When saying editing, I am mostly talking about filters, although there are so many other editing tools you can use. Filters can dramatically enhance your final photo, and it is important to know how to properly use them. I use the app EyeEm for all of my editing and it is the only one I really like. Below, I included before and afters of a couple pictures I had to apply a heavy filter to.

AFTER:

For this photo, I turned down the warmth and saturation, and added a blue tint for the walls.

I applied a foggy filter to this as well as turning up the contrast and down the saturation. The fogginess fits this shot really well, and it adds a creative flair.
4. Drawing Inspiration
Now that you know some basics to take creative photos, you need to find some more examples that intrigue you. I have included some Instagram accounts below as well as some creative photos featured on their accounts.
Although Anna Lisa Falzone focuses on minimalist and fashion photography now, she used to take stunning creative shots. She would use puns or phrases and capture it in a creative photograph. I was originally drawn to her because of those shots and she has been my favorite photographer ever since.

"I'm over this weather"

"Road Block"

"Essay Mode"
I love this account because Derrick Freske has such a unique style that is really palatable for me. Some photos are just beautiful, and others are stunningly unique.

"Complimentary Colors"

"A Few Thousand Miles and an Ocean Away"

"Disco Ball Baby Doll"
This is probably the most gorgeous account I have discovered on Instagram. She uses pastel colors combined with spectacular shots. She has the most creative eye and her entire account is so inspiring. I highly suggest checking out her page if you're interested in these shots.

"Pastel sunsets looking out over the beautiful city of Lyon"

"I hope I will always be able to see the beauty in the little things"

"The Little Things"
Bryan Castillo captures the most breathtaking images I have ever seen and every shot he takes is very inspiring. His theme is beautiful and features insane photos that he's captured.

"Dreaming with the moon."

"Mapping it out"
Brandon takes unique shots as well, and often uses string lights to create magical photos. There are a ton of other shots I wanted to include but you have to check out his page to experience it yourself.

"All your colors start to burn"

"Cause my heart is in the future and I know where I belong"

"It's like magic, but it's always been a smoke and mirrors game"
Emmett is best known for his stunning portrait shots, which are primarily what he showcases. The lighting and details of every photo are so carefully done, that it really has a polished vibe. If you are into portrait photography, like myself, he's a great account to follow for inspiration.

"It snowed yesterday"

This account is a community of social influencers who have formed a new-age creative agency. They feature many different professional photographers on Instagram and showcase a lot of creative shots.
